AI Price Monitoring for Retail

Rival retailers' online prices on your key lines tracked, so store and online teams quote the same comparison to shoppers.

Shoppers check prices on their phones while standing in your aisle. If a rival retailer is cheaper online, your staff need to know before the customer tells them. This Retail edition tracks rival retailers' online prices on up to 25 key lines and compares each with your own price, so store teams and the online team share one brief and one answer.

  • Rival retailers' online prices compared with your own
  • Price-match situations flagged with a link to the page
  • One brief shared by store managers and the online team

What it is

AI Price Monitoring for Retail tracks the prices rival retailers show online for up to 25 key lines you also stock, and compares each with your own price from your POS export or ecommerce platform. Stores and the online team get the same daily or weekly brief.

Why businesses buy it

In retail, an unnoticed price gap costs twice. Shoppers walk out to buy elsewhere, and store staff handle price-match requests without knowing whether the claim is current. Checking rival websites by hand rarely survives a busy season. This edition watches the key lines that drive footfall and margin, and puts your price beside each rival's in a single brief. Stores and online quote the same facts. The Scope Card sets the lines, systems and channel before you order, so coverage is never in doubt.

Problems this solves

Shoppers quote a rival's online price at the till and staff are unprepared

The monitor tracks rival retailers' online prices for up to twenty-five key lines you stock. Store teams get the same brief as the online team, so they know the current market price.

Store, online and rival prices drift apart without anyone noticing

The retail price comparison template sets each rival price beside yours, taken from your POS export or ecommerce platform. Gaps between channels and against rivals show up in one place.

Buyers check competitor websites by hand before every pricing meeting

Prices are gathered on your schedule and summarized in a daily or weekly brief. Buyers arrive at pricing meetings with current figures and source links, without a manual round of checks.

A rival's weekend promotion on a key line is spotted on Monday

Change alerts flag a rival price move on any tracked line when the next scheduled check finds it. Category teams then have time to decide whether to respond.

A good fit if

Shoppers in store ask whether an item is cheaper elsewhere, and staff check competitor websites on their phones.
You run a price-match promise and need current competitor prices for the lines it applies to.
Store and online teams set or explain prices separately, and shoppers notice when the stories differ.
A focused list of key lines, up to 25, decides most of your competitive position.

Not the right fit if

You want suggested price changes for review, not only tracking. See AI Pricing Intelligence Agent.
You need stock needs forecast and stockouts flagged. See AI Inventory Intelligence.
You want competitors' pages watched for messaging and promotions as well as price. See AI Competitor Website Monitor.
You want plain-language answers from your own sales and store data. See AI Data Analyst Agent for Retail.

How it works

  1. You list up to 25 rival retailer product pages for the key lines that matter most, each matched to your own item.
  2. Your own prices come from one of two connected systems: a POS or inventory export, or your ecommerce platform.
  3. Each tracked page is checked daily or weekly and its displayed price is logged into a running history.
  4. The Retail workflow template shapes the brief for store questions: which lines you are now dearer on, which rival prices fell, and which fall inside your price-match rules.
  5. A change alert fires when a tracked price moves, with old price, new price, percentage change, your price and a link.
  6. The brief and alerts go to one channel, such as an email list of store managers, after two trial report cycles with you.

What you provide within 72 hours

Your portal lists these the moment you order. Delivery starts the working day after everything is in and your access is checked.

  • Up to 25 rival retailer product pages, each matched to your own item.
  • Access to your POS or inventory export, or your ecommerce platform, for your own prices.
  • Your price-match rules, if you offer one, and what counts as a significant gap.
  • Who receives the brief, how often, and on which channel.
  • Admin access and API keys for connected systems, shared securely, never by email.
  • Your business information and one decision-maker to approve the tracked list.
  • An API key for your own AI model account (for example OpenAI or Google Gemini), created for this build with a spending limit.
The 72-hour rule. Send everything on your checklist, including access, within 72 hours of ordering so your build starts on time.

Expected benefits and how to measure them

  • Can help store and online teams talk about prices with confidence.
  • Makes it easier for buyers to prepare for pricing reviews.
  • Helps keep key lines priced where you intend against rivals.
Key lines inside your target price position
Count them weekly from the comparison template. Compare the first month's count with later months.
Unit sales on tracked key lines
Pull POS reports for those lines. Compare with the same weeks last year to allow for seasonality.
Buyer hours spent on competitor checks
Buyers log weekly hours for a month before launch. They repeat the log a month after.

Before you start: Agree the key lines and your target price position for each. Record current prices and recent unit sales from your POS.

These are things to track, not promised results. Outcomes depend on your data, your team and your market.

Running costs

You pay once for the build, at the price shown in the panel on this page. Running it costs roughly $20 to $120 a month for AI usage and the web data or search APIs behind each check, billed in your own accounts. A weekly brief on 25 lines sits at the lower end.

Your POS, inventory and ecommerce subscriptions are unchanged, and AI usage during the build is billed to your accounts as well.

Custom requirements

Questions about this product

Can AI Price Monitoring for Retail support our price-match promise?

Yes, as information for your team. If you share your price-match rules at intake, the brief flags tracked rival prices that fall within them, with a link to the page. Staff and managers still decide whether to match. It does not change your prices or approve a match for a shopper.

Where does it get our own prices from?

From one of the two connected systems, either a POS or inventory export or your ecommerce platform. That lets each alert show your price next to the rival's. If store and online prices differ, choose which one the comparison uses at intake, or raise a Change Quote to compare both.

Can store managers receive the brief directly?

Yes. Email is often the simplest channel for store teams, with the brief sent to a list of store managers on the schedule you choose. Slack or Notion work too, but only one channel is included. Separate briefs per region or store group come through a Change Quote.

What happens when a tracked product is no longer on a rival's site?

A page that no longer shows a price cannot be checked, so that line stops producing alerts until it is replaced. Swapping in a different rival page for the same line fits within the monthly change hours of maintenance, and you can change listings at any time as long as the total stays within 25.

How much is the Retail price monitoring edition with express delivery?

Each delivery speed, including express, has its price shown in the panel on this page, and every speed delivers the same Scope Card for Retail. Faster delivery moves the date, not the scope. After launch, running costs of roughly $20 to $120 a month for AI usage and web data are paid to providers on your own accounts.

Can it track rival retailers' loyalty or member prices?

Only where a member price is displayed on the public product page. If a competitor shows both a standard and a member price, your brief can note both. Prices that appear only after logging in to a loyalty account are not visible to the checks, so they are not tracked.

Give every store the same answer to is it cheaper elsewhere.

Order AI Price Monitoring for Retail and on a fixed delivery date rival retailers' prices on 25 key lines are tracked against your own, with one brief for stores and online.
