Accessibility Statement
We want everyone to be able to use our website, including people who use assistive technology. Our target is WCAG 2.2 at Level AA. We have built the website with keyboard use, visible focus, labelled forms and small screens in mind. We have not yet had a formal audit by an independent third party, and some parts, such as third-party payment components, may not fully meet our target. If something stops you from using the website, or you need information in another format, email hello@upmarklabs.com. We will respond within 5 working days.
1. Who we are
This website is operated by UPMARK, a sole proprietorship owned by Amit Govil, trading as Upmark Labs, 3/3 B, Saket Nagar, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh 462024, India (“we”, “us”, “our”). We run the Upmark Labs website (the “website”). This Accessibility Statement explains how we approach accessibility on the website, what we have done, what we know does not yet work as well as it should, and how you can tell us about a problem.
This statement should be read with our Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy.
2. What this statement covers
This statement covers the pages, forms, account area, cart and checkout of the website.
It does not cover:
- pages or components run by third parties, such as a payment provider’s own pages or windows (see section 6);
- other websites we link to; or
- the AI systems we build for our customers (“products”). Those systems run in the customer’s own accounts and on the customer’s own platforms. Any accessibility work for a product is included only where it is stated on that product’s Scope Card. If you need accessibility work that the Scope Card does not include, we can send a written Change Quote, as explained in our Terms of Use.
3. Terms used in this statement
- Accessibility: how well people with disabilities, including visual, hearing, motor, speech and cognitive disabilities, can perceive, understand, navigate and use the website.
- Assistive technology: software or hardware that people use to access digital content, such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, speech recognition software, switch devices and alternative keyboards.
- WCAG: the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Version 2.2 is the version we refer to in this statement.
- Level AA: WCAG sets out success criteria at three levels: A, AA and AAA. Level AA includes all Level A and Level AA criteria. It is the level most often used as a target for websites.
- Barrier: anything on the website that prevents or makes it hard for you to find information, complete a task or use a feature.
- Working day: Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays at our place of business.
4. Our commitment and target
We aim for the website to conform to WCAG 2.2 at Level AA. We treat accessibility as part of how we design, build and update the website, not as a separate task done once.
Because we have not completed a formal third-party audit, we do not claim that the website fully conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Our current status is that the website partially conforms. “Partially conforms” means that some parts of the website may not fully meet the standard. Section 6 lists the limitations we know about.
5. What we have done
We have taken the following measures on the website.
| Area | What we do |
|---|---|
| Keyboard navigation | The menus, links, buttons and forms are built so they can be reached and used with a keyboard alone, without a mouse. |
| Visible focus | When you move through the website with a keyboard, the item that has focus is shown with a visible outline or highlight, so you can see where you are. |
| Labelled forms | Form fields, such as those in the account, checkout and request forms, have labels that describe what to enter. These labels can be read by screen readers. |
| Color contrast | We choose text and background colors with the aim of meeting the WCAG 2.2 Level AA contrast ratios, so that text is readable for people with low vision. |
| Reflow and zoom | Pages are designed to reflow to a width of 320 CSS pixels. This means you can zoom in or use a small screen and read the content without scrolling in two directions. |
| Reduced motion | We aim to keep animation to a minimum and to respect the “reduce motion” setting that your device or browser may offer. |
| Images and illustrations | Illustrations on the website are decorative. The information they relate to is also given in text on the same page, so you do not need to see an image to understand the content. |
The website relies on HTML, CSS and JavaScript to work with your browser and any assistive technology you use.
6. Known limitations
We know of the following limitations. We are working to address the ones within our control.
6.1 Third-party checkout and payment components
Card and PayPal payments will be processed by PayPal once that option is enabled. Some checkout or payment components are provided by third parties and are outside our direct control. These components may not fully meet our target. If you cannot complete a payment, contact us at hello@upmarklabs.com. We can offer payment by bank transfer on request. In that case we email you an invoice with bank details, and your order starts when the funds clear. See our Terms of Use for details.
6.2 Downloadable documents
If the website offers PDF or other downloadable documents, some of them, in particular older ones, may not be fully accessible. If you need a document in an accessible format, ask us and we will provide the information in another format (see section 8).
6.3 Decorative illustrations
Illustrations are treated as decorative, so screen readers are meant to skip them. The information they relate to is available in text. If you find an image that carries information not given in text, please tell us so we can fix it.
6.4 Content we have not yet reviewed
The website has a large catalogue of products. We may not yet have reviewed every page against every WCAG 2.2 Level AA success criterion. If you find a page that does not work well for you, please report it (see section 7).
7. How to report a barrier
If you find a barrier on the website, please email hello@upmarklabs.com. It helps us to know:
- the web address (URL) of the page where you found the problem;
- what you were trying to do;
- what went wrong or what you could not do; and
- if you are comfortable sharing it, the browser, device and assistive technology you were using.
You do not need to give us all of this information. Tell us what you can, and we will follow up if we need more.
8. Getting information in another format
If you cannot access any information on the website, we will try to provide it in another way. For example, we can send you the content of a page or document as plain text by email, or answer your questions about a product, its Scope Card, an order or our policies by email.
To ask for information in another format, email hello@upmarklabs.com and tell us which information you need and the format that works best for you.
9. How we respond
We will respond to your report or request within 5 working days. In our response we will:
- confirm that we have received it;
- tell you how we plan to deal with it; and
- where we can, give you the information or help you need in another way while we work on a fix.
Some problems take longer to fix than others, for example where a third-party component is involved. Where a fix will take time, we will tell you and offer another way to get what you need where we can.
10. How we handle your information
When you contact us about accessibility, we use the information you give us only to respond to you, to fix the problem and to improve the website. We do not need to know about any disability to deal with your report. Please share only what you are comfortable sharing. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and your rights.
11. Assessment approach
We assess the accessibility of the website ourselves, as part of building and updating it. We have not yet completed a formal accessibility audit by an independent third party. If we commission one, we will update this statement to say so.
12. Changes to this statement
We will review and update this statement when we make significant changes to the website, when we fix a known limitation, or when we learn of a new one. The date of this statement is shown with it on this page. The current version on this page replaces earlier versions.
13. Contact
For accessibility reports and requests for information in another format, email hello@upmarklabs.com. For other questions, see our contact page.
