AI Legal Operations Assistant
Handles routine legal-ops coordination and matter tracking.
Ask a plain-language question about your legal document library and get an answer with the exact source and page cited.
Finding the right document across matters and drives can eat an hour that should have gone to the work itself. AI Legal Document Search lets your team ask a plain-language question and get an answer with the exact source and page cited. Permission groups keep each user inside the matters they may see, and the library refreshes monthly so results stay current.

AI Legal Document Search answers questions about one legal document set you hold, such as a client's contracts or a matter's filings. Every answer cites the exact source and page. Permission groups keep users to their own matters. It gives search and citations only, not legal advice. AI Legal Knowledge Base covers firm-wide precedents and guidance instead.
Legal teams lose real time hunting for documents: searching drives by file name, asking colleagues where something was saved, re-reading filings to find one paragraph. That time is rarely billable and always frustrating. This build indexes the library you already hold and answers questions with citations, so every answer can be checked in seconds. It is benchmarked on your own questions before launch. The Scope Card sets the document limit, sources, users and permission groups in writing, so you know exactly what is indexed.
Users ask plain-language questions about your document library and get answers with the exact source and page. Up to three content sources and two thousand documents are covered.
Every answer cites the document and page behind it. Lawyers can check the source in a click, and the tool gives search and citations only, not legal advice.
Up to three permission groups keep users to the matters they may see. Access is set during setup and follows your own rules. Ethical walls and client confidentiality are easier to respect.
A monthly content refresh brings new documents into the index. Searches stay close to what the library actually holds, through one interface such as a web app or Teams.
Your portal lists these the moment you order. Delivery starts the working day after everything is in and your access is checked.

Before you start: Time ten typical document searches by hand today and keep the questions for a repeat test after launch.
These are things to track, not promised results. Outcomes depend on your data, your team and your market.
The build price is one-time. Running AI Legal Document Search afterwards costs roughly $50–300/month, covering AI model usage, the vector database and hosting, billed directly in your own accounts as your library grows or your team's question volume changes.
AI usage during the build and testing is also billed to your accounts, so you keep ownership of every provider relationship. Nothing runs through us.
Ask about running costsIf you need something outside the Scope Card, add a note at checkout. You get a written Change Quote, and that work only starts once you accept it. Your original order runs on its normal timeline either way. Larger or bespoke projects go through the Custom AI request form instead.
Request a custom versionWe recommend monthly maintenance: monitoring, fixes, and monthly change hours, which cover adding a content source, adjusting permission groups or refreshing the benchmark set. Maintenance starts after the 30 days of support, bills monthly, and can be cancelled any month.
$395/mo (5% of the build price a month, includes 3 change hours)
Optional. Starts after the post-launch support period. Cancel any month.
How maintenance works| Do it yourself with a SaaS tool | Hire a custom agency | Upmark Labs | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | A document search tool bills per user or per document indexed every month | A custom agency quotes after discovery calls | Ours is one fixed price, shown on this page before you buy |
| Scope | A document search tool is a general index you configure permissions in yourself | An agency agrees scope during the project | Ours is written on the Scope Card before purchase |
| Citations | A document search tool may return a summary with no source shown | Citation depends on what was scoped | Ours cites the exact document and page behind every answer |
| Accuracy check | A document search tool rarely benchmarks against your own questions before go-live | Testing depends on what the agency scoped | Ours runs 60 benchmark questions first, with a written accuracy report |
The build is a one-time fixed price, shown in the price panel on this page next to each delivery speed, and it is confirmed with your Scope Card. It covers indexing your library, connections to your content sources, the permission groups, the monthly refresh and the accuracy benchmark run before launch. There is no charge from us per user or per question.
Document Search answers questions from a defined set of documents you already hold, such as one client's contract library or a matter's filings, with every answer cited back to that set. Legal Knowledge Base is broader: it holds the firm's own precedents, templates and playbook guidance, used across many matters rather than tied to one document set.
No. It answers questions using only the documents in your library and cites the source behind every answer, so nothing is invented. It does not interpret what a clause means for your matter or recommend a course of action, and final legal judgment always stays with a qualified lawyer reviewing the cited material directly.
Roughly $50 to $300 a month in your own accounts, covering AI model usage, the vector database and hosting. The figure moves with how many documents you index and how often your team asks questions, so a busy litigation team sits higher than a small in-house group. We charge nothing per question, and monthly maintenance is optional.
The delivery time is fixed before you buy and shown in the delivery panel on this page, with faster speeds where offered. It starts once access to your content sources is verified and your permission groups are agreed. Most of the build goes into indexing your library and benchmarking answers against real questions from your team, before your two review rounds.
It needs access to the content sources you name, such as your document management system, SharePoint or Google Drive, plus workspace admin for sign-in setup and admin API keys for each connected system, shared by adding our team as a user or creating a key you control, never by email. You also provide the user list and permission groups.
Small changes, such as adjusting permission groups or refreshing the benchmark questions, fit inside the monthly change hours that come with maintenance. Adding a fourth content source beyond the three in scope is a bigger change and gets a written Change Quote first.
Yes. Maintenance bills monthly and can be cancelled for any month going forward, with no long-term contract attached. Search keeps running in your own accounts after you cancel, with your index and settings intact. Future changes, such as new permission groups or another content source, would then be made by your team using the admin guide, or ordered when you need them.
Order AI Legal Document Search and it turns your document library into cited, plain-language answers on a fixed delivery date. The scope above is what you get, in writing, before you pay.
