AI Financial Reporting

Management report packs assembled and written up on schedule, ready for your leadership meeting.

Every month, someone spends days pulling numbers into the management pack and writing up what changed, often the night before the meeting. This build assembles your recurring report pack from your accounting data, in your own structure, and writes plain-language commentary on what moved and why. It flags the metrics that shifted furthest, so leadership talks about decisions rather than data.

What it is

AI Financial Reporting assembles your recurring management report pack from your accounting data and writes a plain-language commentary on what moved and why. It delivers by email, Slack or a web dashboard. The pack follows your structure, not a generic template.

Why businesses buy it

Building the management pack by hand ties up your most experienced finance people at the busiest time of the month, and the commentary is often rushed. Leadership then spends the meeting asking what the numbers mean. After this build, the pack arrives on time, consistently formatted, with clear commentary on the movements that matter, so your finance team reviews and refines instead of assembling. The Scope Card lists the data sources, sections and schedule before you buy, so you know exactly what lands in your inbox.

Problems this solves

The monthly management pack takes days to put together

The report pack is assembled from your accounting data on a schedule. It follows your own structure and up to 25 defined metrics, so the team reviews it rather than builds it.

Owners get numbers but no explanation of what changed

Each pack includes a plain-language commentary on what moved and why. Readers who do not live in spreadsheets can follow the story behind the figures.

The pack looks different depending on who built it

Your structure is set once and reused, so each period reads the same way. Results are checked against three months of your history before launch, so the figures can be trusted.

A good fit if

You produce the same management report pack every month or quarter, and assembling it eats a day or more each cycle.
You want the numbers accompanied by written commentary explaining the movement, not just a table of figures.
You already export data from a system like QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite or Google Sheets you can connect read-only.
Your leadership team wants the pack on the same schedule every cycle, delivered to the same people automatically.

Not the right fit if

Forward cash position matters more to you than a recurring report pack. See AI Cash Flow Assistant.
You want budget-to-actual variance explained specifically, not a full report pack. See AI Budget Analysis.
You want a single interactive executive dashboard rather than a delivered report pack. See AI CFO Intelligence Dashboard.
You need more than three data sources feeding the report. Add a note at checkout for a Change Quote.

How it works

  1. You connect the data. Up to three read-only sources feed the figures that go into the report pack.
  2. You define the report structure. The up to 25 metrics and sections you want covered, and the commentary style your leadership expects, are agreed during intake.
  3. It learns your baseline. At least three months of your historical figures set the pattern it compares new numbers against when writing commentary.
  4. Each cycle, it assembles the pack. Figures are pulled, formatted into your report structure, and paired with written commentary on what moved and by how much.
  5. It flags what needs attention. Up to five alerts highlight the metrics that moved furthest from your baseline, so the commentary leads with what matters.
  6. You review and refine the tone. Two rounds of changes before launch let you adjust commentary style and report layout to match how your leadership reads.

What you provide within 72 hours

Your portal lists these the moment you order. Delivery starts the working day after everything is in and your access is checked.

  • Read-only access to each accounting or reporting data source.
  • Your own definitions of the metrics and sections the report pack should cover.
  • At least three months of historical figures to set the baseline.
  • The list of report recipients, the delivery channel and the reporting cycle.
  • Admin access and API keys for every connected system, shared by adding our team as a user or creating a key you control, never by email.
  • Your business information (company basics, hours and brand voice), shared during intake.
  • One decision-maker who can approve the report structure and commentary tone.
  • An API key for your own AI model account (for example OpenAI or Google Gemini), created for this build with a spending limit.
The 72-hour rule. Send everything on your checklist, including access, within 72 hours of ordering so your build starts on time.

Running costs

You pay for the build once. Running it afterwards costs roughly $20 to $150 a month for AI model usage and hosting or scheduler fees, billed directly in your own accounts. Build and test usage is billed the same way, so every provider relationship stays yours.

Questions about this product

Does AI Financial Reporting write the commentary itself?

Yes. Alongside the assembled figures, it writes a plain-language commentary on what moved since the last cycle and by how much, based on the baseline built from your own historical data. You set the tone and structure during intake, and two rounds of changes let you adjust the style before launch.

How is this different from AI CFO Intelligence Dashboard?

AI Financial Reporting assembles and delivers a recurring report pack on your schedule, with written commentary. AI CFO Intelligence Dashboard is a fuller, interactive executive dashboard at a higher price point, built for leadership to explore the numbers conversationally rather than receive a delivered pack. Choose based on whether you want a document or a live dashboard.

What data sources can feed the report pack?

Up to three read-only sources, commonly your accounting system plus a spreadsheet or a payment processor. You grant read-only access, so nothing is changed in your source systems. If your reporting depends on a system outside the usual set, tell us during intake and we confirm it connects within scope.

How much does AI Financial Reporting cost to run each month?

Roughly $20 to $150 a month for AI model usage and hosting or scheduler fees, paid directly in your own accounts. The figure depends on how often the report cycle runs and how many sources it pulls from. There is no separate ongoing platform fee from Upmark Labs on top of the one-time build.

Can we change the report structure after launch?

Yes. Adjusting a section, adding a metric within the 25-metric limit, or changing the recipient list are small changes that fit inside the monthly change hours included with maintenance. A larger restructure, or a fourth data source, is quoted as a Change Quote before the work starts.

Is our financial data handled securely in the report build?

Yes. Access credentials are shared by adding our team as a user or creating a key you control, never sent by email, and every connection is read-only, so your source systems are never altered. The report output goes only to the recipients and channel you named. Role-based access and audit logging are available as add-ons for stricter policies.

How accurate is the commentary compared to what our team would write?

It is checked against three months of your real historical data before launch, and you review two rounds of drafts to correct tone or emphasis. It writes from the numbers and the baseline you gave it, not from outside opinion, so accuracy depends on the data and definitions you provide during intake.

Which reporting product suits finance rather than operations?

This one, for finance and leadership readers. AI Report Automation gathers figures from your systems into one formatted report. AI Report Narratives writes the commentary for a report you already produce. AI Weekly Business Review builds the weekly operating document with owners and open items. AI Financial Reporting produces the finance pack for leadership. The Executive Reporting Pack add-on adds a leadership summary to an existing Upmark Labs product.
