AI Legal Operations Assistant
Handles routine legal-ops coordination and matter tracking.
Indemnification, termination, liability and other named clauses come out of your contract set, extracted and ready for review.
When someone asks how your contracts handle indemnification or termination, the answer usually means opening dozens of files. AI Clause Extraction pulls the clause types you name out of your contracts and builds a structured library, tagged by type, contract and date. Validation rules check each extraction, and anything uncertain goes to a person for review before it joins the library.

AI Clause Extraction is a document build that pulls named clause types, such as indemnification, termination and limitation of liability, out of a defined set of contracts and turns them into structured, reviewable data. Each clause is tagged by type, contract and date, and low-confidence extractions go to a person for review.
Knowing your position across all your contracts is valuable for a negotiation, an acquisition or a change in law, but building a clause library by hand takes weeks of paralegal time and goes stale fast. This build extracts the clauses you name, checks them against validation rules and keeps them in a form your team can search and compare. It is tested on your own contracts before launch, with an accuracy report. The Scope Card fixes the document types and fields in writing, and it gives no legal advice.
The build pulls named clause types, such as indemnification, termination and limitation of liability, out of a defined set of contracts. Each becomes structured data you can filter and review.
Each extracted clause is tagged by type, contract and date. That gives the team a searchable library they can use without asking who negotiated what.
Low-confidence extractions go to a person for review before they are stored. Validation rules check the fields, up to 25 per document type. The library stays trustworthy as it grows.
If you need to compare positions across past deals, the structured data lets you line clauses up side by side. Results go to the agreed destination system.
Your portal lists these the moment you order. Delivery starts the working day after everything is in and your access is checked.
| Option | Delivery time | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 20–30 working days | $4,400 |
| Express | 15–25 working days | $5,150 |
| Rush | 10–20 working days | $5,950 |
Before you start: Time a manual search for one clause type across your contracts, and note how many contracts are in scope.
These are things to track, not promised results. Outcomes depend on your data, your team and your market.
The build price is one-time. Running Clause Extraction afterwards costs roughly $30–200/month depending on how many contract pages pass through it each month, covering OCR and AI usage plus storage, billed directly in your own accounts.
AI usage during the build and testing is also billed to your accounts, so you keep ownership of every provider relationship. Nothing runs through us.
Ask about running costsIf you need something outside the Scope Card, add a note at checkout. You get a written Change Quote, and that work only starts once you accept it. Your original order runs on its normal timeline either way. Larger or bespoke projects go through the Custom AI request form instead.
Request a custom versionMonthly maintenance covers monitoring, fixes, model and platform updates, a monthly health report and monthly hours for changes such as new clause types, updated validation rules and adjustments to the review queue. It starts after the 30 days of support, bills monthly, and can be cancelled any month.
$249/mo (the minimum fee, includes 2 change hours)
Optional. Starts after the post-launch support period. Cancel any month.
How maintenance works| Do it yourself with a SaaS tool | Hire a custom agency | Upmark Labs | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | A clause-detection tool bills monthly per contract or per seat | A law firm or contracts consultant quotes after a scoping call | Ours is one fixed price, shown on this page before you buy |
| Scope | A clause-detection tool ships a broad, generic clause library | An agency agrees scope during the project | Ours pulls only the clause types you name, written on the Scope Card first |
| Accuracy check | A clause-detection tool rarely tests against your own contracts before go-live | Testing depends on what the agency scoped | Ours runs 100 of your sample documents through it first, with a written accuracy report |
| Delivery | Sign-up is instant, tuning it well is not | Typically several weeks before work even begins | Ours has a fixed delivery time shown before you buy, with faster options |
The build is a one-time fixed price, shown in the price panel on this page next to each delivery speed, and it is confirmed with your Scope Card. It covers your clause list, the validation rules, the human review queue, connections to your source and destination, and the accuracy report we run on your own contracts before launch. There is no charge from us per contract.
Document Classification sorts and tags a document as it arrives, filing it as an NDA, MSA or lease before anyone reads it closely. Clause Extraction goes further into already-identified contracts and pulls the actual clause text and values, such as indemnification or termination terms, into structured fields your team can act on directly.
No. It extracts and structures the clause text and values you asked for, but it does not interpret them or recommend a course of action. Anything the extraction is not confident about goes to the reviewer you named, and final legal judgment on every clause always stays with a qualified lawyer on your team.
Roughly $30 to $200 a month in your own accounts, covering OCR and AI usage plus storage. The figure moves with how many contract pages pass through it, so a one-off backlog costs more in its first month than steady new intake later. We charge nothing per contract, and monthly maintenance is optional if you want changes made for you.
The delivery time is fixed before you buy and shown in the delivery panel on this page, with faster speeds where offered. It starts once your clause list, sample contracts and system access are in. Most of the build goes into tuning extraction against your own real contracts, then you review the accuracy report and use your change rounds before launch.
It needs admin access and API keys for the source and destination systems you connect, such as your document management platform or matter management system, shared by adding our team as a user or creating a key you control, never by email. It also needs at least 20 real sample documents per document type so extraction is tuned properly.
Yes. Adding a clause type or adjusting a validation rule within your existing three document types fits inside the monthly change hours that come with maintenance. Adding a fourth document type is a bigger change and gets a written Change Quote first of your request.
Yes. Maintenance bills monthly and can be cancelled for any month going forward, with no long-term contract attached. If you stop, the extraction workflow, the clause library and every record stay in your own accounts and keep running. Future changes, such as new clause types or rules, would then be made by your team using the admin guide, or ordered when you need them.
Order AI Clause Extraction and it pulls the clause types you name from your contract set on a fixed delivery date. The scope above is what you get, in writing, before you pay.
