AI Product Description Engine for Shopify

Shopify product pages get on-brand descriptions written from each product's own data and saved straight back to Shopify.

Empty or thin Shopify product pages lose sales and search traffic. This edition writes on-brand descriptions from each product's own title, variants and existing copy, in a voice learned from reference examples you approve. Approved descriptions are written straight back to the mapped Shopify product fields, so there is no copying and pasting, and nothing goes live without your sign-off.

  • Descriptions written from each Shopify product's own data
  • Approved copy saved straight back to Shopify
  • Your voice learned from examples you choose

What it is

AI Product Description Engine for Shopify writes on-brand descriptions for your Shopify catalog, learning your voice from up to 20 reference examples you approve. It reads each product's title, variants and existing copy through a two-way Shopify connection, then writes approved descriptions back to the mapped product fields. Nothing is published without your approval.

Why businesses buy it

Shopify makes it easy to add products and hard to keep the copy good. As ranges grow, descriptions get shorter, inconsistent or copied from suppliers, and shoppers and search engines notice. This edition fixes that at scale and writes approved copy straight into Shopify, so your team never copies and pastes again. The documented field mapping and written scope tell you exactly which fields are read, which are written and how samples are approved before you order.

Problems this solves

New Shopify products go live with the supplier's description

The engine reads each product's title, variants and existing copy through a two-way Shopify connection. It drafts an on-brand description that replaces stock supplier text.

Copying approved text into Shopify product fields wastes hours

Approved descriptions are written back to the mapped Shopify product fields. Nothing is published without your approval, and the field mapping is documented so you know exactly what changes.

Variant-heavy products end up with vague, generic copy

Variants are part of what the engine reads, so copy can mention real options such as sizes or finishes. Your voice comes from up to 20 reference examples you approve.

A good fit if

Your Shopify store has hundreds of products with thin, missing or inconsistent descriptions.
Product facts such as titles, variants, product type and tags already sit in Shopify, and the copy should be built from them.
You want approved copy saved directly into Shopify, not pasted in by hand from a spreadsheet.
A Shopify admin can create a custom app with Admin API scopes and spend thirty minutes agreeing which fields get written.

Not the right fit if

You need tags, collections and product data managed across the catalog, not only descriptions. See Shopify AI Product Agent.
Search visibility is the gap rather than the copy itself. See AI Product SEO, which works on titles, meta and schema.
Your catalog lives in WooCommerce. See AI Product Description Engine for WooCommerce.
You also sell on Amazon and need listings that meet its rules. See AI Amazon Listing Optimization.

How it works

  1. Field mapping first. A Shopify admin creates a custom app with Admin API scopes, and on a 30-minute call we agree which product fields the engine reads and which it may write.
  2. Your voice is set from up to 20 reference descriptions you choose, plus your brand profile, rather than a generic style setting.
  3. Each product is read from Shopify: title, variants, product type, tags and any existing description, with specs from one more system, such as a supplier sheet, if you need it.
  4. Drafts come out in up to 3 output formats, for example the main description, a short summary and bullet highlights, each mapped to a Shopify field.
  5. You approve 25 sample products before anything is written in bulk. Changes from your two review rounds go into the pipeline, not into one product at a time.
  6. Approved batches are written back to Shopify through the custom app. A product with too little source data is listed for a person instead of padded with guesses.

What you provide within 72 hours

Your portal lists these the moment you order. Delivery starts the working day after everything is in and your access is checked.

  • A Shopify custom app with Admin API scopes for products, set up by your admin and shared securely in the way we agree at intake, never by email.
  • Your Shopify admin for a 30-minute call on which fields are read and written.
  • Brand guidelines or a short style note, plus 10 to 20 product descriptions you already like.
  • The collection or product list to cover first.
  • Access to any spec sheet or drive holding facts missing from Shopify, if you want it used.
  • The person who approves the 25 sample outputs.
  • Your business basics and one decision-maker for sign-off.
  • An API key for your own AI model account (for example OpenAI or Google Gemini), created for this build with a spending limit.
The 72-hour rule. Send everything on your checklist, including access, within 72 hours of ordering so your build starts on time.

Expected benefits and how to measure them

  • Can get new Shopify products live with proper copy sooner.
  • Removes the copy-and-paste step between drafting and publishing.
Products still using supplier copy
Count them in a Shopify product export before launch and again a month later.
Time from product creation to live listing
Compare created and published dates in Shopify for products added before and after launch.
Conversion on updated products
Use Shopify analytics to compare conversion on rewritten products for four weeks before and after.

Before you start: Export your Shopify products and count those with supplier or missing copy. Note how long a new listing takes to go live.

These are things to track, not promised results. Outcomes depend on your data, your team and your market.

Running costs

The build is one-time. Generating descriptions costs roughly $20 to $150 a month in AI model usage, billed to your own accounts and driven by how many products you run through it. Your Shopify plan is separate and unchanged.

AI usage during build and testing is billed to you directly as well.

Custom requirements

Writing to extra metafields or custom Shopify objects beyond the mapping, adding a fourth output format or a second language needs a written Change Quote. Add a checkout note and we send it to you. Larger or bespoke projects go through the Custom AI request form instead.

Keep it running

Monthly maintenance for Shopify catalogs covers monitoring, fixes and a monthly allowance of change hours, enough to run a new collection through or retune the voice for a seasonal range. Bigger changes go through a Change Quote.

$249/mo (the minimum fee, includes 2 change hours)

Optional. Starts after the post-launch support period. Cancel any month.

Questions about this product

Which Shopify fields does the description engine write to?

Only the fields agreed in the documented mapping, normally the product description plus up to two more output formats you choose. Titles, variants, product type and tags are read as source facts. Metafields or other custom Shopify objects are written only if named in that mapping; anything beyond it needs a Change Quote.

Will the Shopify engine overwrite descriptions we already like?

Not unless you include those products. You choose which collections or products go through the pipeline, and existing copy can serve as source material or reference instead. Nothing is written to Shopify in bulk until the 25 sample outputs are approved, so you see exactly what replaces what.

Can it describe new products as they are added to Shopify?

Yes, in new batches. Once the voice is approved, newly added Shopify products can go through the same pipeline, and monthly maintenance covers the hours for regular batches. Each batch follows the formats and fields fixed in the mapping, so new pages match the rest of the catalog.

What Shopify access does the description engine need?

A custom app in your Shopify admin with Admin API scopes for products, created by your store admin. Credentials are shared securely in the way we agree at intake, never by email. Your admin also joins a 30-minute call to confirm which fields are read and which are written.

How much is the Shopify description engine with express or rush delivery?

Each delivery speed has one fixed price. The price panel shows standard, express and rush side by side before you pay, and the cart confirms your delivery date. All options include the Shopify field mapping, 25 approved samples, two rounds of changes and a recorded forty-five-minute handoff session. Running costs of roughly $20 to $150 a month are separate and paid to your own providers.

What does running the Shopify description engine cost each month?

Roughly $20 to $150 a month in AI model usage, paid in your own accounts, depending on how many products you generate copy for. A month with a large new collection sits higher and a quiet month lower. Your Shopify subscription is billed separately and does not change.
