Employee Lifecycle

AI Helpdesk Agent for Slack

Employees ask IT and service questions in Slack, get answers from approved docs, and the rest reaches the right team.

Your staff already ask IT questions in Slack, usually in a busy channel where answers get buried. This agent answers them in the thread, using only the help articles, FAQs and policies you approve, and routes anything it cannot resolve to the right team. It runs as a Slack app your admin installs, reading only the channels you choose, so you stay in control of what it sees.

  • IT and service questions answered right in the Slack thread
  • Reads only the channels your workspace admin approves
  • Unresolved requests routed to the right team with context

What it is

AI Helpdesk Agent for Slack answers employee IT and internal service requests inside Slack, using only the help articles, FAQs and policies you approve, and routes anything it cannot resolve to the right team. It runs as a Slack app your workspace admin installs, reading only the channels you approve.

Why businesses buy it

When IT help lives in Slack channels, the same questions get asked and answered by hand dozens of times, and urgent requests scroll out of sight. Your service team becomes a human search engine. After launch, employees get approved answers in seconds where they already work, and requests that need a person arrive organized. The Scope Card spells out the approved channels, the handoff system and the topics covered before you order, so your security and IT leads can sign off with confidence.

Problems this solves

Slack channels fill with the same IT questions every week

The agent answers IT and internal service requests inside Slack, using only the help articles, FAQs and policies you approve. Employees get an answer in the thread where they asked.

Staff ping IT colleagues directly and interrupt their work

Common questions are answered by the Slack app first. Anything it cannot resolve is routed to the right team, so direct messages to individuals can drop.

You want control over which Slack channels a bot can read

A good fit if

Employees already post IT and access questions in a Slack channel, and someone answers the same ones every week.
You have help center articles, FAQs or policies that cover most of those questions, even if nobody finds them.
A Slack workspace admin can install the app and join a 30-minute setup call.
You want unanswered requests passed to the right team with the thread attached, following your escalation rules and support hours.

Not the right fit if

Your company works in Microsoft Teams rather than Slack. See AI Helpdesk Agent for Microsoft Teams.
Your requests already live as tickets in Jira Service Management or Freshservice and the agent should work those records. See AI Helpdesk Agent for Jira Service Management or AI Helpdesk Agent for Freshservice.
You want a general team bot for questions and simple actions, not an IT and service desk. See AI Slack Bot.
Your busiest Slack channels carry production alerts and incidents rather than employee requests. See AI Incident Triage for Slack.

How it works

  1. Your Slack admin installs the app and approves the channels it may read, on a 30-minute setup call. Channels outside that list stay invisible to it.
  2. Your help articles, FAQs and policies, up to 100 documents or 200 web pages, become its only source of answers.
  3. Five intents are agreed, for example access requests, password help, equipment questions or where a policy lives, each matched to how staff phrase them in Slack.
  4. When someone asks in an approved channel or through the app, the reply lands in the same thread, so the channel stays readable.
  5. Requests outside those intents or outside your content go to the team your escalation rules name, through the one other system you connect, such as a helpdesk or escalation inbox.
  6. The field mapping, covering which channels, users and app interactions it reads and where it posts, is written down for your admin.

What you provide within 72 hours

Your portal lists these the moment you order. Delivery starts the working day after everything is in and your access is checked.

  • A Slack workspace admin to install the app and approve its channels.
  • Thirty minutes of that admin's time for the setup call.
  • The documents or web pages it should learn from, and your top 20 FAQs with the answers you approve.
  • Your escalation rules and support hours, plus the escalation email or helpdesk access used for handoffs.
  • Logo and brand colors for the app's Slack profile.
  • Admin access for the one other system you connect.
  • One decision-maker for approvals.
  • An API key for your own AI model account (for example OpenAI or Google Gemini), created for this build with a spending limit.
The 72-hour rule. Send everything on your checklist, including access, within 72 hours of ordering so your build starts on time.

Questions answered in Slack without handoff
Count conversations closed by the app each week, from its log.
Repeat questions in support channels
Sample your main Slack help channel for repeat questions over two weeks before and after launch.
Tickets on common topics
Compare helpdesk tickets on the five intents for four weeks before and after launch.

Before you start: For two weeks, tally repeat questions in your Slack help channels and the matching helpdesk tickets.

These are things to track, not promised results. Outcomes depend on your data, your team and your market.

Running costs

You pay for the build once. Running it costs roughly $30 to $150 a month in your own accounts for AI model usage and hosting, and the figure rises with the number of questions staff ask.

Your Slack plan stays as it is; Slack licenses and upgrades are outside the build. AI usage during build and testing is billed to you directly.

Custom requirements

A second channel, more than five intents, a second language or custom Slack objects beyond the agreed mapping needs a written Change Quote. Add a note at checkout and we send it to you.

Questions about this product

Which Slack channels can the helpdesk agent read?

Only the channels your workspace admin approves when installing the Slack app. Those channels, the users who post in them and their interactions with the app make up the agreed field mapping, which is documented for you. Anything outside that list stays invisible to it, and your admin can remove the app at any time.

Does the Slack helpdesk agent reply in threads?

Yes. It answers in the thread where the question was asked, so the main channel stays readable for everyone else. When it hands a request to a person, the handoff carries the thread and what was already tried, so whoever picks it up does not ask the employee to explain again.

Who installs the app in our Slack workspace?

A Slack workspace admin on your side installs it, and we go through the approved channels together on a 30-minute setup call during intake. We never ask for an admin's login. Book that call early, because intake items are due within 72 hours of ordering and late access moves the delivery date.

Where do unanswered Slack requests go?

To the team your escalation rules name, through the one other system in this build, usually your helpdesk or an escalation email address. Your support hours shape what the employee is told about when someone will pick it up. Every handoff is logged, which shows you which answers your help content is still missing.

What does the Slack helpdesk agent cost to run?

Roughly $30 to $150 a month in your own accounts, covering AI model usage and hosting. The number moves with how many questions employees ask. Your existing Slack subscription is unchanged, and Slack licenses or plan upgrades are neither part of this build nor needed for it.

How fast can the Slack helpdesk edition launch?

You see the fixed delivery time before you buy, counted from a verified intake, and you can choose express or rush delivery if your launch date is close. Each option includes the same 40 test questions asked inside Slack, with pass or fail results, before employees start using it.

Is this different from the AI Slack Bot?

Yes. AI Slack Bot is a general team bot for questions and simple actions. This Slack helpdesk edition is shaped around employee IT and internal service requests: your help articles and policies, your escalation rules and support hours, and routing to the right team when it cannot resolve something.

Answer IT questions where staff already ask them.

Order the Slack edition and employees get approved IT and service answers in the thread where they asked, with everything else routed to the right team.
