AI Voice Receptionist for Vonage

An AI receptionist answering a Vonage number, with voice calls and recordings kept in the Vonage account you own.

If your numbers sit in Vonage, you can have them answered without moving to another platform. This receptionist answers a number linked to your Vonage application, handles routine questions, takes messages and transfers callers to your team. Voice calls and recordings stay in the Vonage account you own, and one more system, such as a calendar, can be connected for bookings.

  • Answers a number you already own in Vonage
  • Calls and recordings kept in your Vonage account
  • Live transfer to your team when a person is needed

What it is

AI Voice Receptionist for Vonage answers a number linked to your Vonage application, handles routine questions, takes messages and transfers callers. Using your Vonage application ID and private key, it reads and updates voice calls, numbers and recordings through a documented field mapping, and connects one other system such as a calendar.

Why businesses buy it

Missed calls cost the same whatever platform you use, but switching telephony to get an AI receptionist adds risk and cost you do not need. This build works with the Vonage setup you already have, so numbers, recordings and billing stay where they are. Callers get answered at any hour, routine questions are handled, and the right calls reach a person. The Scope Card lists the field mapping, call flows and second system before you order, so you know exactly what changes and what stays.

Problems this solves

A Vonage enquiry number goes unanswered outside office hours

The receptionist answers a number linked to your Vonage application at any hour. It handles routine questions, takes messages and transfers callers whenever someone is available.

Callbacks agreed on the phone never reach anyone's calendar

Alongside Vonage, the receptionist connects one other system, such as your calendar. Callbacks or appointments agreed on the call can be recorded there instead of on paper.

Recordings stored in Vonage are hard to match to the right call

Voice calls, numbers and recordings are read and updated through a documented field mapping. Each recording stays linked to its call, so a conversation is easy to find and review.

A Vonage private key shared casually puts the account at risk

The connection uses your Vonage application ID and private key, set up through access you control. No keys are sent by email, and you can revoke them in Vonage at any time.

A good fit if

Your numbers are held in a Vonage account, or Vonage is the provider you prefer to put a new one on.
You want the recordings of AI-answered calls stored in Vonage with your other call recordings.
Someone on your side can create a Vonage application and join a 30-minute setup call.
Besides Vonage, one system needs connecting, typically a calendar for appointments or a CRM for call notes.

Not the right fit if

You have no telephony provider yet and no preference. The core AI Voice Receptionist, sets up on the account you choose.
Your numbers sit in Twilio instead. See AI Voice Receptionist for Twilio.
You need defined inbound call types resolved end to end on Vonage. See AI Inbound Call Agent for Vonage.
Callers speak several languages and you want the language detected automatically. See AI Multilingual Voice Agent.

How it works

  1. Your Vonage application is linked. During a 30-minute setup call, your Vonage admin shares the application ID and private key, and the number the receptionist will answer is linked to it.
  2. Callers are greeted and understood. Your disclosure plays, then the receptionist works out what the caller wants and follows one of up to five call flows.
  3. Answers come from approved material only. Opening hours, prices you publish and routine process questions are answered from up to 50 documents or an FAQ set.
  4. People are reached when needed. Callers asking for a person, or with questions outside scope, are transferred to the numbers you set; otherwise a message is taken.
  5. Vonage keeps the record. Voice calls and their recordings are updated in your Vonage account through the agreed field mapping, which is documented and handed over.
  6. The second system gets the outcome. Bookings land in your calendar, or summaries in your CRM, depending on which one system you connect alongside Vonage.

Expected benefits and how to measure them

  • Can help your Vonage number cover calls outside office hours.
  • Makes callbacks and appointments harder to lose.
  • Helps your team find and review recordings quickly.
Answered-call rate
Use your Vonage call records. Compare the four weeks before launch with the four weeks after.
After-hours calls handled
Filter Vonage call records by time of day. Count after-hours calls answered each month.
Callbacks and appointments recorded
Count entries created from calls in your connected calendar. Compare with a manual tally kept before launch.

Before you start: Export four weeks of Vonage call records split by office and after-hours times. Keep a short tally of callbacks promised by phone.

These are things to track, not promised results. Outcomes depend on your data, your team and your market.

Running costs

The build is a single price. After launch, calls cost roughly $0.13 to $0.31 per minute all in for the voice platform, the AI model and Vonage telephony, plus number rental, billed to your own accounts. Vonage invoices you directly for its part.

AI usage during building and testing is billed to your accounts as well.

Custom requirements

Mapping custom Vonage objects beyond the agreed fields, connecting a third system or adding a sixth call flow is quoted separately. Add a note at checkout, and a written Change Quote follows. Vonage licenses and plan upgrades remain your responsibility.

Questions about this product

What does AI Voice Receptionist for Vonage need from our Vonage account?

A Vonage application ID and its private key, plus a Vonage admin for a 30-minute setup call. The number the receptionist answers is linked to that application. Through it, the build reads and updates voice calls, numbers and recordings, following a field mapping we agree with you and document.

Can we keep our existing Vonage number?

Yes. Any number already in your Vonage account can be linked to the application, and the receptionist answers it from launch. If the number is still with another carrier, you can forward it or move it to Vonage, though moving times depend on that carrier, so start early.

Where are recordings of Vonage calls stored?

In your Vonage account, through the agreed field mapping. Nothing is moved into a separate vendor platform. Summaries and outcomes can also go to your one other connected system. If you want recordings searchable across calls, add Call Recording Archive and Search on top of the build.

Does the Vonage receptionist handle more than one language?

One language is included. A second language is available with the Additional Language Pack, configured for the same number and call flows. If you need several languages with automatic detection on each call, AI Multilingual Voice Agent is designed for that and is worth comparing before you order.

How do you test the Vonage connection before launch?

With 50 test calls on live sandbox or test records in your Vonage setup. We check that calls and recordings update as the mapping says, that transfers reach the right numbers, and we send you each transcript. Two rounds of changes come before the number goes live.

What is the delivery time for the Vonage edition, and can it be faster?

Delivery time for each speed, including faster options, is shown in the panel on this page. The clock starts the working day after your Vonage application details, call scripts and second-system access are all confirmed, so sending them early protects the date. Every speed delivers the same Scope Card.

Do we pay Vonage separately from the build?

Yes. Vonage bills you directly for its telephony and number rental, and the voice platform and AI model are billed in your own accounts, at about $0.13 to $0.31 per call minute all in. Vonage licenses and plan upgrades are excluded, and we add no markup or per-call fee.

Give your Vonage number a receptionist.

Order AI Voice Receptionist for Vonage and on a fixed delivery date the number linked to your Vonage application answers callers, routes the ones who need a person, and keeps recordings in Vonage.
