AI Research Agent

Ongoing questions answered with sourced briefs delivered on schedule, not chased down by hand.

Your team probably checks the same competitor sites, filings and forums every week, and still misses the change that mattered. This agent does the watching for you. It tracks the sources and questions you name, then sends a short brief to email, Slack or Notion with every claim linked to where it came from. You choose the sources, the questions and the schedule.

  • Cited briefs on your schedule, every claim linked to its source
  • Separate alerts when a tracked source changes between briefs
  • Hours of weekly scanning handed back to your team

What it is

AI Research Agent is a standing researcher that watches the sources, competitors or topics you name and delivers a cited brief to your inbox, Slack or Notion on the schedule you choose. Every claim links back to where it came from, and a separate alert fires when something important changes between briefs.

Why businesses buy it

Manual research is quiet overhead. Someone on your team spends part of every week rereading the same sites, and the findings live in their head or a messy document. When that person is busy, the watching stops. With this agent the questions, sources and format are agreed once, and a sourced brief arrives whether anyone remembered or not. Decisions get made on checked facts instead of half-remembered headlines. The Scope Card lists the sources, channel and brief format in writing before you order, so you know exactly what you are buying.

Problems this solves

Keeping up with competitors and sources takes hours nobody has

The agent watches up to 25 sources, competitors or topics you name. It turns what it finds into one cited brief, delivered daily or weekly by email, Slack or Notion.

Research summaries arrive without sources, so nobody trusts them

Every claim in the brief links back to where it came from. Your team can check the original in one click before acting on anything it says.

Important changes get noticed weeks after they happened

Alongside the regular brief, a separate change alert fires when something important shifts between briefs. You agree what counts as important during setup, and the trial cycles test it.

A good fit if

You or your team spend recurring hours each week scanning the same sites, filings or forums for updates.
You want a brief with sources attached, not a summary you have to fact-check yourself afterward.
You already know which 25 or fewer sources, competitors or topics matter, even if the questions evolve over time.
A daily or weekly brief in email, Slack or Notion fits how your team already reads updates.

Not the right fit if

You need pricing changes tracked and proposed specifically, not general topic monitoring. See AI Pricing Intelligence Agent, built around competitor and market pricing.
You need the findings turned into a dashboard with metrics and alerts, not a written brief. See AI Business Analyst Agent.
You need the agent to take action on what it finds, such as updating a CRM record or sending a quote. See an Action Agent such as AI Procurement Agent.
You need more than 25 tracked sources or more than one delivery channel. Add a note at checkout for a Change Quote, or use the Custom AI enquiry form for larger monitoring programs.

How it works

  1. The sources are set up. Up to 25 sites, competitors, filings, forums or topics you name are configured as what the agent watches, with the specific questions each brief should answer.
  2. The web and your documents are searched. On the schedule you choose, the agent gathers what has changed or what is new against the questions you set, rather than everything published.
  3. Findings are checked against sources. Every fact in the brief carries a link back to where it came from, so nothing reaches you unsourced or unverifiable.
  4. A brief is written and delivered. It lands in your chosen channel, email, Slack or Notion, on a daily or weekly cadence, with a short summary at the top and detail underneath.
  5. Change alerts fire between briefs. If something material shifts on a tracked source before the next scheduled brief, you are notified separately rather than waiting for the cycle to complete.
  6. Two trial cycles are reviewed with you before launch, so the questions, sources and format are right before the brief becomes routine.

What you provide within 72 hours

Your portal lists these the moment you order. Delivery starts the working day after everything is in and your access is checked.

  • The specific sources, competitors or topics you want tracked, up to 25 of them.
  • The questions each brief actually needs to answer, not just the general subject.
  • Access to the channel the brief should land in, whether that is an inbox, a Slack workspace or a Notion page.
  • Admin access and API keys for every connected system, shared by adding our team as a user or creating a key you control, never by email.
  • Your business information (company basics, hours and brand voice), shared during intake, so the brief reflects your context.
  • One decision-maker who can approve the source list and format during the build.
  • An API key for your own AI model account (for example OpenAI or Google Gemini), created for this build with a spending limit.
The 72-hour rule. Send everything on your checklist, including access, within 72 hours of ordering so your build starts on time.

Expected benefits and how to measure them

  • Can keep your team informed without anyone spending mornings reading websites
  • Helps decisions rest on sources people can check for themselves
  • Makes it easier to react while a change is still fresh
Hours spent on manual research
Ask the people who do this research to note weekly hours for a month before launch and a month after.
Time from a change to your team knowing
For notable changes, compare the date they happened with the date your team first heard. Do this before and after launch.
Brief usefulness score
Ask readers to rate each brief on a simple one-to-five scale for the first two months. Watch the trend.

Before you start: List the sources you check today and roughly how long it takes each week. Note a few recent changes you learned about late, and how late.

These are things to track, not promised results. Outcomes depend on your data, your team and your market.

Running costs

The build price is one-time. Running the agent costs roughly $20 to $120 a month in your own accounts, covering AI model usage and any web data or search API calls needed to track your sources. A shorter source list with a weekly cadence sits at the low end; daily briefs across the full 25 sources sit toward the top.

AI usage during build and testing is billed the same way, in accounts you control.

Custom requirements

Add a note at checkout if you need something specific. If it fits within the Scope Card it is simply included. If it goes beyond it, you get a written Change Quote within two working days, and that work starts only once you accept it, with its time added to your delivery date.

Keep it running

Monthly maintenance covers monitoring, fixes and a monthly allowance of change hours to swap tracked sources, adjust questions or tune the brief format as priorities shift. It starts after the 30 days of included support, bills monthly and can be cancelled any month.

$249/mo (the minimum fee, includes 2 change hours)

Optional. Starts after the post-launch support period. Cancel any month.

Questions about this product

Can it track competitor websites and social posts?

Yes, within the 25 tracked sources, which can mix competitor sites, regulatory filings, forums, review sites or social accounts, whichever combination actually answers your questions. You choose the exact list during intake, and the agent watches only those sources, on the schedule you set, nothing wider.

How is this different from a keyword alert tool?

A keyword tool surfaces raw mentions for you to read and sort through yourself. This agent gathers what changed against the specific questions you set, checks it against your own documents where relevant, and writes a short brief with every claim linked back to its source.

What should I budget for it each month?

Roughly $20 to $120 a month in your own accounts, covering AI model usage and any search or web data APIs needed. Cost depends mainly on how many sources you track and how often the brief runs, and there is no separate fee to us for running it.

Can the brief go to more than one place?

The build covers one delivery channel: email, Slack or Notion, whichever your team actually reads. A second channel is available as an add-on and quoted separately, since it usually means a genuinely different format, not simply an extra recipient copied on the same message.

What if a tracked source stops being useful?

You can swap it during the build's two trial cycles at no extra cost, while the source list is still being tuned. After launch, swapping sources fits inside the monthly change hours of maintenance, since it is a configuration change rather than a new build from scratch.

How much of my own time does the build need?

Roughly one to two hours for intake, mostly naming sources and the exact questions each brief should answer, spread across the 72 hours after you order. Then about 30 minutes reviewing each of the two trial cycles before the brief goes live and becomes routine.

Does it ever act on what it finds?

No. This agent researches and reports; it does not update records, send messages or make changes anywhere on your behalf. If you also need an agent that acts on findings, see one of our Action Agent builds, such as AI Procurement Agent or AI Account Manager Agent.

What happens if it is not accurate at launch?

You review two full trial cycles before going live, which is where most accuracy issues surface and get corrected together. After delivery you still have five working days to flag anything against the Scope Card, and that gets fixed at no extra cost to you.

Stop reading the same ten sites every week.

Order the AI Research Agent and get a sourced brief on your schedule, built around the questions your team actually asks. Every source and format choice is agreed in writing before you pay.
